Background of KSRC

Development of a Foundation Degree for Laboratory Technologists

This is the first course established by the KSRC, driven by input from industry to better meet their needs. It has a strong ‘hands on’ technical element allied to complementary academic modules. Access courses and links to a final year Honours Degree are also being developed.

Establishing the Kent Science Resource Centre a technical training facility.

This is a major project brought together with a partnership between, SEEDA, Swale Forward, Kent Science Park and the Kent Science Resource Centre steering group members from industry, schools, higher education and further education.  This technical training facility includes 4 laboratories, classrooms and a student common room and is based above a bio-incubator space for start-up companies.  The KSRC will provide a facility for CPD courses and an opportunity for science students to experience a modern day industry focused laboratory facility.

Mapping of the science training and career framework in the SEEDA region.

The Regional Resource Centres undertake a coordinating role and where possible use existing resources to meet identified needs. The first stage of this is to map existing providers of education, information and advice for this sector. This information will then enable us to implement any improvements in an organised way avoiding duplication of effort.
